MRS PIESSE & JAMIE-LEE TUUTA’S
CHRISTMAS CONCERT
The Dancing School’s of Cushla Piesse and
Jamie-Lee Tuuta combined for their end of year Christmas concert
“Step into Christmas” on the Sunday 29th of November.
Over 30 boys and girls performed in the end of year production which
included Penguins, Christmas angels, Elves, Reindeers and many
more. The Scottish Society Hall was full to the brim with only
standing room only which was outstanding. The children extremely
enjoyed preparing and performing in the concert. There was even a
guest appearance from Santa himself who presented all the children
with their certificates. A great way to finish a wonderful year.

CELEBRATING 60 YEARS OF
MEMBERSHIP

Mrs. Pat Stevens was delighted to
receive her 60 Year Bar in recognition of 60 years membership of the
New Zealand Academy of Highland and National Dancing. Pat’s
recent ill health had prevented her from attending the recent
Academy conference to receive her Bar in person. However, she was
delighted that the Academy Vice President, Mrs. Barbara Tait was
able to visit her to present the Bar along with a framed certificate
acknowledging this milestone, and flowers from the Academy
membership.

OUR WONDERFUL PIANIST
After our September exams which were conducted by
Mrs Robyn Simmons a presentation was made to our pianist Mrs Isabel
Ballantyne. Mrs
Ballantyne has played for our examinations for the past 30
years. She has always
been very dedicated to us and loves playing for the candidates many
of whom she has seen grow up.
In some instances she has played for their children as
well.
When Mrs Ballantyne first started playing, her
daughter Susan Harris was still dancing and completed her exams
under her tinkling fingers.
Her granddaughter Tara Harris also completed all her exams
with Nana playing.
Isabel said that seeing her granddaughter complete her exams
was wonderful and when she said thankyou to her she couldn’t help
but shed a small tear.
