How It Began
The Academy came into being in 1946 on the initiative of Mr Ian
Cameron, OBE, MBE, C.St.J. and with the support of the Piping and
Dancing Association of New Zealand. 
The Continuing Story
From the beginning of the Academy, grade examinations have been
provided to establish a unified and standardised technique.
Where We Are Today
The Academy has been able to compile and document a detailed collection
of the Scottish and National Dance heritage brought to New Zealand.
