To promote and enhance the art of Highland and National
Dancing and foster enjoyment and participation.
The New Zealand Academy of Highland and National Dancing
is an examination body that trains and qualifies highland
dancers, teachers and judges. The Academy fosters and maintains
the Highland and National dances brought to New Zealand by
the Scottish Settlers.

Membership of the New Zealand Academy is open
to all who successfully complete the prescribed examination programme.
The Academy provides an integrated syllabus of
assessments, medal tests and examinations designed to develop the
skills and knowledge of dancers at all levels.
